Research Supervision

As per DRC resolution dated 31st January 2023, all full-time, permanent faculty members of Mathematics Departments of the colleges of the University of Delhi who are actively involved in research, can apply to be recognized as Ph.D. supervisors provided they fulfil the following conditions:

  1. The applicant should have at least three years’ experience (teaching and/or research) after obtaining the Ph.D. degree.
  2. In the case of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, the applicant must have a minimum of two published papers in SCIE journals that do not take mandatory Article Processing Charges (APC), in the last five years, based on work done after their Ph.D. At least one of these papers should not have the Ph.D. supervisor or co-supervisor as co-author.
  3. In the case of Professor, the applicant must have a minimum of five published papers in SCIE journals which do not take mandatory Article Processing Charges, in the last seven years, based on work done post Ph.D. At least three of these papers should not have the Ph.D. supervisor or co-supervisor as co-author.
  4. In all cases, if the papers submitted for evaluation have joint authorship, an undertaking as per Annexure-II from all co-authors other than the applicant is required to be submitted with the application.

All faculty members of the department are eligible to supervise students for Ph.D. Course.

Application Process

A completed Application form and Undertaking (Annexure II), if required, along with all supporting documents should be submitted to the Department office as a hard copy. The application form will be received twice a year, in the months of March (01 to 31 March) and October (01 to 31 October). An electronic copy of the application form and all supporting documents should also be sent to head@maths.du.ac.in.
